Could you help shape the future of the Bridgend Centre?

Are you passionate about community wellbeing in Bollington and making a real difference in the lives of people who live here? The Bridgend Centre has been a trusted charity in the town for 35 years and is looking to recruit new Trustees to join our Board.

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute your experience and skills to a charity that adds a huge amount of value to the town and supports over 1,250 people every year. The organisation is set to go through more growth and change in the coming years; we recently received funding from the National Lottery Reaching Communities to renovate the first floor of our building and increase the capacity of the organisation from January 2026.

About The Bridgend Centre

The Bridgend Centre in Bollington is an independent charity, established for 35 years and is a place where everyone is welcome. We aim to enhance local people’s quality of life by offering a safe place from which we deliver a range of activities and services. We particularly help people with physical, mental health and learning disabilities, older people and those who are isolated. People access our services from Bollington and surrounding areas.

We are open six days per week and deliver:

  • Drop-in support service open six days per week
  • A range of social and educational groups and activities throughout the week
  • ‘Bridgend Buddies’, a befriending scheme for vulnerable people
  • ‘Shuttle to the Shops’, a shopping transport service to provide independence and choice
  • Guided walks
  • Walking trails across the lovely countryside around Bollington

We currently have around 120 volunteers, some of whom work for us regularly and some on a more ad-hoc basis for one-off events. Volunteers play a hugely important role at the Centre, and undertake vital work for us, such as being a Trustee, helping in our charity shop, in our Drop-in Kitchen Cafe, with IT, and doing gardening and carpentry.  They also help us to carry out management and maintenance work in the Centre.

Why Become a Trustee at the Bridgend Centre?

Our Board of Trustees plays a vital role in the strategic direction, governance, and responsible growth of the organisation. We are looking to recruit two or three passionate and skilled individuals to join our team.

Being a Trustee is a meaningful way to give back to your community and contribute to a growing, values-driven charity with a clear purpose and impact.

Skills and Experience We’re Looking For

We regularly review the diversity and skillset of our Board to ensure we are representative of the communities we serve. We are particularly keen to hear from individuals who have the following skills and experience:

  • HR expertise, with up-to-date knowledge of employment law and best practices
  • Finance
  • Health and safety
  • IT
  • PR and marketing
  • Charity management

We are also looking for someone with experience in growing and scaling organisations, and the confidence to act as an ambassador for the Bridgend Centre. They should demonstrate a genuine interest in our mission and have the ability to positively contribute to our governance and direction.

As we serve the people of Bollington, we would prefer candidates who live in the town or nearby and who are very familiar with the area
